Mushroom Stamps From Around The World

My father was a stamp collector, so some 40 years ago when I got interested in Mushrooms I decided to collect mushroom stamps. What you see here is very small percentage of what is available out there. Some countries only issue stamps what grows within its borders. While others, looking for income and issue theme stamps by truckload (mushroom are just one among the group). Most of those stamps are sold to collectors as pre-cancelled (they postmark it prior to sale so they can’t be used as postage) at a lower price than the denomination value. Below is a list of countries I have specimens from. If you look at USA, you will find 3 stamps. First on is a non-issue, I believe it was an attempt by PSMS years ago to see if US Postal Service would be interested in doing a mushroom stamp. Second is a private issue by someone who used Stamps.com to make a homemade stamp. This also is not considered as an official stamp of the US Postal Service. I have no idea where or how I got it or who is the issuer of the stamp. Third is the only USA mushroom stamp ever issued, it is a bioluminescent photographed by Taylor Lockwood.
